Our services · Appointment support
“What did the doctor say?”
“Oh, he was very happy with me.”
Every family with an ageing parent has had this exact exchange. It is not evasion. Appointments are short, the room is intimidating, three new terms get used, and by the time you are back in the car half of it is gone.
Someone in the room
Appointment support means the caregiver does not sit in the waiting room. They go in, listen, and write down what was actually said — the change to the prescription, the follow-up in six weeks, the referral, the thing the doctor asked to be watched for.
Afterwards you get it in writing. Not an interpretation, not advice — a record.
What this includes
- Driving to and from the appointment, door to door
- Helping keep track of the calendar so appointments are not missed
- Bringing the list of questions your family wanted asked
- Taking notes during the visit
- Reporting back to whoever in the family needs to know
- Collecting prescriptions on the way home
- Going along to non-medical appointments too — the bank, the attorney, the insurance office
Where the line is
Worth being precise, because this is a service that can be oversold.
We do not give medical opinions, argue with doctors, make treatment decisions, or sign anything. We are not a healthcare proxy, a guardian, or a power of attorney. Those are legal roles and they belong to family or to someone appointed properly.
What we provide is presence, a clear head, and an accurate record — so that the family making the decisions is making them with the full picture.
Particularly useful when
- You live out of state and cannot be at every appointment
- There are several specialists and nobody has the whole picture
- Hearing loss or memory trouble makes appointments hard to follow
- There are several doctors and it is hard to keep track of what each one said
- You are the family caregiver and cannot take another morning off work
